Bat

We had a bat in the house. Like a legit, jittery, probably rabies invested, hanging upside down BAT. IN. MY. HOME.

Other than my dog and my cat, I don’t do animals. I don’t really even do outdoors. So needless to say this was the closest I’ve ever been to anything like that. And I do not plan to repeat it.

My 4 year old son already had been struggling with sleep, so this particular night he woke up at 4:30ish AM comes into my room and says “mommy there’s a birdy in my room. ” Of course in my sleep-induced hazed, I don’t believe him and try to send him back to bed. After several repeats of this conversation I get up to walk him back to his bed, where I almost run head first into the “birdy” Needless to say, not a great experience. The whole family ends up getting rabies shots since we were all asleep while it was jjust flying around upstairs . So yeah, all in all- not an experience I would recommend to anyone!!

Fast forward to post-bat, now my son REALLY STRUGGLES sleeping. He refuses to go to the bathroom by himself, much less sleep by himself. 😬

So why am I telling you this crazy, long story?! I don’t know, just to reach out and say again, life is hard; life is crazy; unexpected things happen; then those crazy unexpected things lead to other, sometimes bigger problems. Let’s try a little harder to be kind to each other- yes as Christians, that should be our goal anyway- showing the world the light and love of Jesus Christ! But let’s also keep in mind, we have no idea who was up at 4:30 this morning chasing a bat out of their son’s room, so let’s just be nice to everyone. Let’s lift up and support each other- because we are all living in this crazy, broken world together.
