Death is Defeated

Mission Accomplished, Day 8

Luke 24: 1-12

What does Resurrection Sunday mean to you? I wonder, like James is asking in his discussion questions, how do you think you would have handled this situation if you would have been alive back then? If you were with the apostles, would you have believed the news the women came back from the tomb with? It’s easy for us to believe them, right? We know the end of this story; we know He actually had risen and would appear to them before His ascension, but if we put ourselves in their shoes, in the moment, it’s easy to see how the women may not have been believed. “You’re tired,” “you’re confused,” “you’re still mourning,” “did you go in the wrong tomb,” “maybe the ‘men’ you saw stole or moved the body!”

If I’m being honest with myself (and you ;) ) “God raised Him from the dead and now He’s wandering around freely,” certainly would not have been at the top of my list if I would have been alive and in that room back then!

The song James recommends for for tonight’s reading/ activity can be found here- https://youtu.be/nzy7jFNUc3w

What were your takeaways here? What stuck out to you from this passage- in the Bible reading or from James’s Mission Accomplished study? How do you celebrate Resurrection Sunday?
