The King Has Come

Mission Accomplished, Day 1

Luke 19: 28-40

Friends, both new and old, I am so excited to be starting not only a new Bible study with you, but a family oriented Easter study!! If you’re new to theWHERE, WELCOME!! I started theWHEREblog in an effort to seek God’s purpose for my life; I had and continue to have this feeling that God is calling me for something, I just don’t know what! In an effort to figure out just what that something is, I wanted to dive into scripture! The more I read and the deeper I got into His word, I wanted to share everything I was reading, the dots I was connecting, the ah-ha moments, all of it! So here we are, a few months later and I am attempting to do just that- share those moments and thoughts as I continue to explore God’s word and seek God’s “where” for my life.  My hope is that as I am seeking God’s purpose for my life, maybe these notes and thoughts can be helpful to you! You are often the motivation I need to stay on track with my reading and exploration, so I hope that I can also encourage you to spend more time in your Bible and in prayer.  Ok, ok, ok- without further introduction, let’s jump in!!

This study will be a little different than the last mini series I did on Wonderfully Made.  Wonderfully Made was a 30 chapter book and we spent about a month going through it.  Posts would go live on theWHEREblog every Saturday morning for the prior week’s reading passages.  My ongoing, year-long study, following Diane Stortz’s A Woman’s Guide to Reading the Bible will continue in the background, with posts going live every Monday.  This particular study is designed to start on Palm Sunday and last 2 weeks.  As a working-mom, I typically structure my Bible studies around the busy schedules, and demands of real life, but with this particular study, it’s important we stay on schedule so the study aligns with Easter and hopefully helps us to better wrap our minds around what was actually happening during the events our entire religion is based upon! Just like with my other studies, this will be a virtual study, meaning that the posts will be online and can be found at your convenience.  If you do get off schedule, it will not the be end of the world, you’ll still be able to access my posts!

Before we actually get started, take a minute and read the introduction- I think it’s important for you to “hear” from the author, Scott James, how the book is intended to be used.

This Bible passage makes me wonder- how would I have handled this situation? If God tells me to go get a colt, would I? or would I be scared of upsetting the colt’s owner?! If I were in the crowd would I have spread out my jacket? or would I have been worried about getting my jacket dirty or losing it among the other jackets? I’m a bit of worry-wart by nature so surrendering my stress and fears is always a bit of struggle and is something I continually strive to turn over to The Lord!

As you’re doing these discussion questions with your family, I would love to hear from you! Leave a comment below! 👇

We aren’t really a family of singers; don’t get me wrong, we like and appreciate music and will sing in church on Sunday morning but just randoming singing together in our little family of 4, isn’t something we do- so for us, I found this same song on YouTube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNq0WtMSmIY ) and we all listened to it as we discussed tonight’s passage.
