Week 28

1 Chronicles 16-29, Colossians 1-4, and 2 Chronicles 1-6

We all stay super busy, right? Juggling careers, kids, marriages, and still trying to make time to just be us- maybe you play tennis or enjoy reading; point is it’s hard and none of us have time to duplicate efforts. Get it done, touch it once, mark it off the list and keep going- never slowing down, sound about right?

Typically yes- I do not have time to do things twice. So taking that a step further, I barely have time to read, much less read the same content TWICE- see where we’re going with is? 😉 BUT- I am actually kind of loving Chronicles. Personally, I’m finding it refreshing just to have the content presented again, in a slightly more summarized version. Just to really get this stuff in my brain, ya know?

My big takeaways here are-

I found it super fascinating that we see (to an extent) Psalms 105 right here in the middle of 1 Chronicles 16.

And I loved how even though Chronicles seems to be more the summarized version of the accounts of David & Solomon- we are seeing some prayers of both David & Solomon. Reading their prayers makes me feel like we know them better- like we’re getting a snap shot of their hearts, not just a 3rd party perspective.

So let’s pause for a self reflection minute- if others are seeing my actions but they obviously aren’t hearing or reading my prayers and therefore aren’t tangibly seeing my heart- how are they seeing me? Are my actions truly indicative of my heart and my prayers? Or do I act one way when I’m out rushing around just trying to keep my head above water in my daily normal life and another way when I’m studying the Bible or in heartfelt prayer? Now granted- it’s not other people’s perception that necessarily matters, except that we’ve been called to be the hands and feet, right? So am I acting in a way that makes someone WANT to know what makes my heart different?

What about you? What were your takeaways this week?
